Hazard Mitigation Plans

East Tennessee State University Multi-Campus Pre-Disaster HMP

As the GIS Coordinator for the Geoinformatics And Disaster Science (GADS) Lab at ETSU, collect, create, manage and analyze geospatial data pertaining to jurisdictions and educational institutions for which we prepare hazard mitigation plans (HMP), and the natural and anthropogenic hazards that could affect them. I also oversee graduate students and undergraduate student workers in profiling and mapping natural hazards that might impact our campus.

Story Maps

Starting in the Fall of 2016, I have started working with the International Storytelling Center (ISC) of a series of web-based mapping projects to highlight projects of the ISC, and information about the National Sotrytelling Festival which is held in October each year in Jonesborough Tennessee.  The first map we created shows locations of interest from the ISC Blog posts from 2016. Tennessee Climate Office

I am working with other professors at East Tennessee State University to establish a Tennessee State Climate Office (TCO) in the Department of Geosciences. The mission of the TCO would be to collect, store, and disseminate climate data, and climate related products to state, local and federal agencies, businesses, and the citizens of Tennessee. In coordination with this mission we submit monthly climate reports to the Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC) at Louisiana State University. Below is an example of products produced for our monthly report.
